Dustin Martin has put to bed suggestions that he’ll come out of retirement to join Gold Coast next season.
And he revealed the news with a quick two words before Richmond’s best and fairest at Crown Melbourne.
“Happily retired,” Martin told 9News Melbourne on Tuesday night.

Martin has been heavily linked to a move up north, despite hanging up the boots at the end of the 2024 season, in emotional scenes.
He is close to former Richmond coach, Damien Hardwick, who is now heading up the Suns.

The Suns confirmed they were in talks with Martin in early September, throwing a spanner into a seemingly easy transition out of the game.
“We can confirm that Dustin has had a conversation with the club and we will both be engaging in further conversations to work out whether it’s a good fit for the Gold Coast Suns and for Dustin,” Suns football boss Wayne Campbell told The Age.

There were also suggestions that the Suns and Martin engaged in earlier discussions during the season.
However, those two words could be the end to a long year of speculation.
Martin is a triple premiership Tiger, a Brownlow Medallist and a three-time Norm Smith Medallist.
